What is CerebRUST?

CerebRUST is an administration and intelligence platform for Rust game servers. A server owner installs a single Oxide plugin; from then on the server streams what is happening — who is online, where they are, what they built, who raided whom — to the CerebRUST dashboard at app.cerebrust.xyz.

It does two distinct jobs, and it is worth keeping them separate in your head:

  1. Telemetry. The plugin reports what happens on the server. This is read-only observation and powers the live map, player history, raid timeline, leaderboards and chat archive.
  2. Gameplay features. Optional server-side tweaks — faster smelting, gather multipliers, blueprint sharing, turret auth syncing and so on — that the owner switches on from the dashboard. Every one of them is off by default.

A server that installs CerebRUST and touches nothing else gets the first job only. Nothing about how the server plays changes until the owner deliberately changes it.

Access is scoped by server, and there are four levels:

Who Sees
Anyone, signed out The public server list, a server’s public page, its player count and public events
A signed-in player The above, plus their own profile, their own bases, and their own notifications
Server staff Everything for the servers they own or have been granted access to — live map, chat, raids, bans, settings
CerebRUST staff Platform-wide tooling, for support and operations

Being on a server does not give you access to that server’s admin dashboard. Sign in and you can see your own footprint — your bases, your profile, your alerts. The live map showing every player’s position is a moderator tool, visible to the server’s staff.

Concretely, from each server: connect and disconnect events, player positions, deaths and kills, resources gathered, time active vs AFK, chat messages, tool cupboards and their auth lists, team membership, F7 reports, sign images, raid damage, combat hits, the ban list, and a render of the map. All of it is scoped to the current wipe.

Two things worth calling out because they surprise people:

  • Chat is archived. Global, team and server messages are all stored and readable by that server’s staff. Team chat included.
  • Positions are recorded. Roughly every two seconds while you are awake, every sixty seconds while you sleep.

This is the same information a server owner could already get from server logs and admin tools — CerebRUST makes it legible rather than making it available. But “the admins can see it” is the correct assumption to play under.

  • Your Steam password or account. Signing in uses Steam OpenID: you authenticate on Steam’s own site and Steam tells CerebRUST your Steam ID. CerebRUST never sees your credentials.
  • Your Discord account, beyond identity. Linking Discord grants CerebRUST your user ID and display name so the bot can DM you. It cannot read your messages or act on your behalf.
  • Anything outside the servers you play on. There is no cross-game or cross-platform tracking.
